Visible number plates to help manage vehicle and owner identification.
All motor vehicles using public roads across the United Kingdom must clearly display a vehicle registration plate front and back. In the event of an accident or vehicle related crime, Government agencies then have the ability to trace the vehicle back to the owner and take any necessary action through the registration plate.
3M offers a range of highly durable, all weather retro-reflective number plate materials with the option to include the 3M Ensure™ Emblem or the Ensure™ Virtual Security Thread for added security. The Ensure™ Emblem contains directional positive identification images or marks that are an integral part of the sheeting and are visible only within a specific viewing angle range. The marks are extremely difficult to counterfeit and facilitate visual examination of the finished number plates.
The versatility of 3M number plate sheeting enables the design of a registration plate specific to plate requirements relative to colour reflectivity, durability, design and plate manufacture. All 3M registration plate material meets the requirements of BS AU 145D.

3M 2750 Series is an exposed lens reflective sheeting with the rear of the sheeting a printed polyester backing film. Designed to be laminated to clear acrylic panels with a suitable clear laminating adhesive it enables the production of highly durable vehicle license plates.

3M 5000 Series is an exposed lens reflective sheeting with the rear of the sheeting coated in a pressure sensitive adhesive, covered by a siliconised paper liner.

3M 7000 Series features lens elements which have been over-laminated with a clear, transparent pressure sensitive adhesive covered by a translucent polymeric liner. The rear of the sheeting is also coated in a pressure sensitive adhesive which is covered by a siliconised paper liner.
